Shadow the Hedgehog is a third-person shooter 3D video game published by Sega. The story of this game follows the amnesiac Shadow’s efforts to learn about the past of the alien invasion. Its gameplay is similar to Sonic games but features fast-paced platforming. Sega Studios USA developed this game based on its popularity and important role in the Sonic Adventure 2 game to solve plot mysteries. This game is written and directed by Takashi Iizuka, and Yuji Naka.

The game was revealed at the Walk of Games event. later It was released for many PlayStation consoles. It received largely unfavorable reviews from critics, and game users criticized its controls, mature theme, level design, and the addition of guns and other weapons to Sonic’s gameplay. However, the game was commercially successful, selling 2.06 million copies in March.

Gameplay​

The game is played from a third-person perspective. All the features like running fast, collecting rings, clever platforming, and destroying enemies like previous games in the series are here. Collecting rings here in the game is a form of shadow health. When the player is attacked by an enemy, his ten rings move away and form a circle around the player that prevents the player from taking damage from the enemy. Each level has one mission, and each mission is labeled either “Hero,” “Dark,” or “Normal.” “Hero” here refers to completing tasks for the heroic characters of the Sonic series of missions. “Normal” missions include reaching the goal ring. Non-neutral mission objectives include: killing all enemies, destroying a plane flying at the end of the level, destroying level objects, etc. All enemies attack Shadow regardless of the mission selected. The missions chosen affect the endings obtained within the plot, game levels, etc. The game features seven levels of boss battles.
