The Gauntlet shares storytelling elements with Soulcalibur II’s Weapon Master mode. A.I.-controlled tutors frequently start with low health and force players to defend or launch attacks within a brief window of time. The Gauntlet has 34 tutorial chapters, with two to four mini-missions at each level. To access the next chapter, players must complete all sub-missions with Rank A. Players receive a new ‘Broken Destiny’ weapon for the character Siegfried as a reward for finishing the Gauntlet.

Three Trials​

Lastly, there are three components of trials: Trial of Attack, Trial of Defense, and Endless Trials. It is a round-based battle format for every section. An individual’s ability to chain attacks determines their Trial of Attack reward score. Based on how well a player defends against attacks and counterattacks, Trial of Defense rewards are given out. Like the survival mode, Endless Trials combines the previously mentioned trials with infinite stages.

Except for the fact that the players in Versus Mode are other nearby PSP users connected wirelessly via an ad hoc network, the features of Quick Match are similar. Training Mode, which functions similarly to Practice Mode/Training in other games, lets players try out moves and practice under controlled circumstances.
